University Medical Associates’ story began in 2003, when what was previously known as the Ohio University Osteopathic Medical Center became independent of Ohio University. In the years since, UMA has established a reputation for quality, affordable healthcare for the residents of southeast Ohio. We serve as the designated faculty practice plan for the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM) Athens campus of Ohio University. This means that our talented group of physician providers are also teachers, and you will often find your physician at UMA providing educational opportunities to medical students, helping to prepare the physicians of tomorrow.
UMA medical offices are located on the Ohio University Campus and around Athens. Our practice includes specialists in Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Diabetes, Endocrinology, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, Geriatrics, Urgent Care, Acupuncture, Student Health, and Women’s Health.
UMA’s mission is to deliver health care services to the residents of southeastern Ohio while providing clinical training opportunities for future osteopathic physicians. UMA medical offices serve as the primary clinical teaching sites for first and second year medical students as well as training sites for many allied health professionals, such as nurse practitioners and medical assistants.
Our multiple locations and wide range of services support the UMA vision of delivering quality health care at a competitive cost to the residents of southeastern Ohio while supporting the mission of the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.
